The string players of the Early Opera Company employ historically accurate equal
tension stringing, with the majority (violins and double-bass) using no metal
wound strings. The trumpet is played without the use of tuning holes, so the
natural harmonic scale is left untempered apart from any adjustments that the
player is able to make by means of the embouchure.
