Rapper/Producer Gold Rush's story isn't too different from any other artist. He answers most questions with the usual "I've been doing music my whole life..." routine. However, there are a few things that set him apart from the rest of the pack. For one. his persistance. Determined to let Trick Daddy hear some of his material, he waited outside a nightclub for 6 hours, just to have a minute of his father (Pops) time.
"I showed him my shit, he was kinda fellin' it," he remembers. "It was still green at the time, my shit wasn't together. I came back {to him} about a year later and he was loving the shit" After polishing up his sound, developing his own unique style and having a couple of meetings. Rush eventually signed with Trick Daddy's Dunk Ryder Records and is now collecting material for his new project. "I was rapping like everybody else, but now I got my shit" Now that he has "his shit," he has worked with Pretty Ricky, Young Buck, Ace Hood, Plies, Chamillionaire, Flo Rida, DJ Khaled, Lil Wayne and of course, his boss Trick Daddy, amongst others. Rush was also featured in Trick Daddy's single "Bet That" alongside Chamillionaire.
Aside from that affiliation, Rush also has his own label, 2 Hot Records, which he is currently seeking distribution for. The second thing that sets him apart are his meledies. Although he has drawn comparisons to Chamillionaire and Nelly, Rush is focused on branding his own sound. "Anytime you hear me rap, you're gonna hear the harmony." says the rapper who earned his name from complexion and affinity for gold teeth. "I do get compared to Chamillionaire, but you can see the difference on the {Trick Daddy song "Bet That"} there is a big difference, there is no comparison."
