In loving memory of Phil "The Wiz" Emmanuel – Guitar, Vocals (6 July 1952 – 24 May 2018) who tragically died from a sudden asthma attack aged 65.
Recorded live at ABC studio 221 by 2JJJ FM on December 15, 1981 in Darlinghurst, New South Wales, Sydney straight to 2 track stereo (no overdubbing or mixdown) by Keith Walker this album was first released in 1983 on OZ Records, an Australian label licensed to EMI via EMI (Australia) Limited. Until today it never was reissued on cd officially.
History:
Australian outfit GOLDRUSH was formed in 1978 and disbanded in 1984 after releasing 3 singles and this very rare sole full length live album.
Back in end 70's when Tommy Emmanuel was taking a break from the guitar, he and his brother Phil put together a band called GOLD RUSH with Tommy on drums and vocals, and Phil on Electric Lead and vocals. There is only one recording of the band recorded live direct to 2 track with no overdubbing. This is it. Other band members include David Mare or vocals, acoustic and electric guitar, Chris Haigh on bass guitar and vocals, Mark Collins on banjo, mandolin, electric guitar and vocals.
Due to the original master tape not being available, this recording has been produced using technology developed by Remasters, Pty. Ltd from a Vinyl LP. For more info on Remasters go to http://www.remasters.com.au. This CD was imported from Australia.
So pay attention if You see a cd copy over the net. It has a different cover in b/w where the band name's first part GOLD... is written in yellow and a wrong recording year credited on the rear side (1980 instead of 1981). Be aware, it's only taken from the original vinyl edition.
