Notary Sojac “Live 1972-1973″ US (Oregon) Psych Blues Jazz Rock
The members of Notary Sojac have finally realized a long-time goal of making our music available to you, through the release of a 2-CD set…..more than two-and-a-half hours of live recordings! These are mastered from original tapes of performances in Eugene, OR and Olympia, WA, during 1972-1973. Despite the many years that have passed, the sound quality is excellent overall. These performances range from rock to blues to country and progressive jazz/rock styles,and feature strong improvisatory arrangements that surprise and delight. The unusual sounds of pedal steel guitar and flute with guitar, Hammond organ and accordion, with soulful vocals and imaginative use of irregular meters (5/4 and 7/4 time)
give a nice dimension to the customary “guitar band” lineup. The inclusion of drum and electric bass improvisation in the mix make for a satisfying adventure in 1970s-era music. Notary Sojac performed with a wide range of popular musicians, including Grateful Dead, Country Joe and the Fish, Velvet Underground, Frank Zappa/Mothers of Invention, jazzers Larry Coryell and John Handy, The Carpenters, Taj Mahal, Flying Burrito Brothers, Charlie Musselwhite and others.
Our band’s whole aim was to reach out and move people, inwardly as well as outwardly, with our own original music and words.
The 2-CD set is called “Notary Sojac, Live, 1972-1973" and represents our group “sound” from that time. During this phase, our music really reached an apex of creativity and power.
