Emerging from Minnesota based outfit SOUTH 40
(1966 - 1969) the band changed their name to CROW in 1969 releasing 3 albums between 1969 and 1971 and broke up in 1972. During that periode 3 singles reached the charts, one of them was "Evil Woman (Don't Play Your Games With Me)" later covered amongst others by Black Sabbath (published on their 1st record in 1970) and the US-band Bandit in 1975 on their only album.
With the idea bringing Crow back again around 1979 Waggoner put together a new band and recorded some songs for the "On The Run" album published on Peak Records, a sublabel of Metrobeat (1967 - 1976) the only album of South 40 "Live At Someplace Else" was released on in 1968.
The material is rather great here, specially Wagner's distinct voice is dominant but due the sound of the album it doesn't seem to be finished in mixing/mastering.
Crow is still active these days with Wagner on board plus new members playin live occasionally.
