"Sista Mannen På Jorden" is known to many Swedes as the side project of Eddie Bengtsson, one of Sweden's pioneers in electronic pop music. Well, it's not a side project any more. After years of creating pop music for his band Page, and later with S.P.O.C.K., which he left some years ago, he has decided to put and end to Page and continue wholeheartedly with this "project".
The music is, as usual, pop, rather classic electropop with a distinct retro feel to it. This is not modern music, but then again, it's not supposed to be. It works fine anyway. It's evident that Eddie is involved in this. It sometimes sounds very much like Page and you can hear elements of S.P.O.C.K in it. Of course, this is not surprising, and we still have to stand his awful rhyming. The production is very clean and, at times, it sounds almost minimal. It's nice music, or at least nice background music. Eddie has sometimes been called Sweden's Vince Clarke and some songs are not that far from what Vince has done these past years with Depeche Mode, Yazoo and Erasure. Other songs are deeply rooted in the Swedish pop tradition, e.g. Jakob Hellman, Pontus Och Amerikanarna etc. The most Hellman sounding song is "Ni Vet Inte Var Jag Är" (you don't know where I am). A surprising song is the cover of the Danish band TV2's song "Vi Har Det Åh Åh Så Dejligt", a nice cover called "Trevligt" (nice) on this album. The sad thing about this album is that it's not interesting enough to keep your attention through the entire album, though all songs are more or less Ok, Ok, Ok...
