| Описание: | USA record label of what was the [l265790] Artists, producers, songwriters and A&R men [a=Hugo Peretti] and [a=Luigi Creatore], better known as [a295511], enjoyed huge success before starting up the Avco label in the late 1960s. The two American-born enterpreneurs worked at [l=Mercury] Records before being hired by [a=George Goldner] and his partners at [l=Roulette Records] in 1956 (which Goldner and his other partners, including Peretti and Creatore, sold their interests eighteen months later to [a=Morris Levy]) and going on to work at [l=RCA Victor] with [a=Perry Como], [a=Sam Cooke], [a=Tokens, The] and [a=Elvis Presley]. Peretti and Creatore set up the label together with legendary film producer and head of Avco-Embassy Pictures Joseph E. Levine in 1968, and it went on to become a success, mainly thanks to soul group The [a=Stylistics]. The six-man group charted over a dozen hits before moving on to Hugo and Luigi's own [l12098] in 1976, together with [a=Van McCoy], whose "The Hustle" was Avco's last major chart hit. Creatore later retired to Florida. Peretti died in 1986. The Avco Records catalog is today owned by [l=Amherst Records]. |
