Vardan Grigoryan

Vardan Grigoryan was born on September 25, 1971 in Yerevan, Armenia. He began his musical education from the age of 12 in one of the music schools of Yerevan. In 1986-1990 he studied in the Department of Folk Musical Instruments Yerevan Musical College after R. Melikyan. In this period Vardan Grigoryan performed with many song and dance ensembles. After graduating from the college Vardan entered the Department of Folk Musical Instruments Yerevan State Conservatory after Komitas. Since 1987 he has performed in numerous international festivals. He performs with all renowned folk pop and jazz musicians of Armenia. Since 1997 Vardan has been the soloist of the State Jazz Band of Armenia. In 1998 Armenian Navy Band was established under the leadership of Arto Tuncboyaciyan and since then Vardan performs there. Together with Armenian Navy Band and other bands he has participated in many European festivals. In 2000 Vardan was invited by Paul Winter to participate in concert dedicated to the Sunrise Day of America Festival in New York together with internationally recognized musicians. Vardan Grigoryan has performed together with such famous musicians as Chick Corea, Paul Winter, etc. Vardan has participated to the recording of one of Paul Winter's albums. From 2005 he is working with Time Report.
