| Описание: | [l=Dunhill] was sold to ABC in 1966, creating [b]ABC Dunhill Records[/b] in the process. ABC Dunhill quickly established itself as a major hitmaker with acts such as [a=Steppenwolf], [a230387], [a=The Grass Roots], [a=Barry McGuire] and [a=Three Dog Night] on its roster. The label also released albums by actor [a=Richard Harris] (who hit Number 2 on the US pop charts with the [a=Jim Webb]-written and produced "Macarthur Park" in 1968), [a=Thelma Houston] (whose first album, [b][i]Sunshower[/i][/b] was also produced by Webb) and acclaimed singer/songwriter [a=Emitt Rhodes]. The early Seventies brought the label further success with The [a=James Gang] (featuring future [a=Eagles] member and solo star [a=Joe Walsh]), blues legend [a=Bobby Bland] and The [a=Four Tops], who left [l=Motown] in 1972 for the label. The label's successes were helped by staff songwriting team [a=Dennis Lambert] and [a=Brian Potter], songwriting/producer duo [a=Terry Cashman] amd [a=Tommy West] and Adler [i]aides-de-camp[/i] [a=Steve Barri] and [a=P.F. Sloan] as staff producers. The label's fortunes eventually declined and in 1975, [l=ABC Records] shut the label down and moved the remaining acts to the parent label. [b]Note:[/b] Post-1975 reissues of Dunhill LPs used the ABC "[i]concentric circles[/i]" label used from 1974 until the label's sale to MCA in late 1978; MCA reissued the more popular Dunhill LPs still in the ABC Records catalog with new MCA catalog numbers and the ABC Dunhill version of the 1974-79 ABC label until at least 1982. |
