RCA Camden
Описание: | RCA Camden was [l=RCA Victor]'s budget label, launched in 1955. Attention! Please check the information here before tagging Pickwick associated versions earlier than 1974. For the dating of other version please have a look to the vinylbeat link below. Please try to mention the exact label version, as there are often different versions. Possibly provide images. The light blue label was introduced in 1969. -- It originally issued budget-priced classical LPs with some of the major conductors and leading symphony orchestras of the day like [a=Arturo Toscanini], [a=Eugene Ormandy], [a=Fritz Kreisler] and the [a=Chicago Symphony Orchestra], [a=Arthur Fiedler] and the [a=Boston Pops] and [a=Leopold Stokowski] and his studio "pick-up" [a=RCA Victor Symphony Orchestra] (featuring members of both the [a=New York Philharmonic] and the [a=NBC Symphony Orchestra]) who recorded for [l=RCA Red Seal]. By 1958, it was also used to repackage its rock, pop, jazz, country and children's recordings. It was also the home of RCA Victor producer [a=Ethel Gabriel]'s [a=Living Strings] and [a=Living Voices] after the Living Stereo era. By 1973, the decision was made to discontinue the extant Camden LP line and license it to [l=Pickwick] International (which endlessly repackaged the [a=Elvis Presley] and pre-stardom [a=Dolly Parton] Camden compilation LPs between 1974 and 1978; during this time, however, RCA itself issued some new albums on the Camden label with a blue-colored version of the standard RCA label used at the time), a still-controversial arrangement that finally ended in 1978 when [l=RCA] launched a new budget-priced reissue series (the ANL1- series) on the parent RCA label. RCA continued using the Camden name for CD reissues until BMG Music resurrected [l=Buddha Records] in 1998 as their reissue label; after the 2004 merger of [l=BMG Music] and [l=Sony Music Entertainment], the newly combined [l=Sony BMG] retired the name along with [l=RCA Victrola] and [l=RCA Gold Seal] in North America. The [l=Camden] name is still used for budget CDs in Britain and is now operating as a division of [l=Sony Music UK]. US Catalog prefixes: Catalog number prefixes are CAL for mono and CAS for stereo releases (several stereo LPs were issued with a CDS prefix). In 1973, the prefix changes to ACL1 with ACL2 for double albums. Pickwick Repressings (1974-78): Pickwick reissues of RCA Camden albums were on the standard Pickwick label with the original catalog numbers (CAS or ACL/ADL minus the "1" or "2"). The upper perimiter print read Made from masters of RCA Corporation. All rights reserved. with PICKWICK in boldface letters and BY ARRANGEMENT WITH RCA RECORDS under it, both in white. The bottom of the label had CAMDEN while the bottom perimiter print read Trademark CAMDEN Used With Permission of RCA Corporation in white with Printed In USA in the silver print used on the rest of the label |
